About
Celebrating 40 Years of Crown Perth
Crown Perth is proudly marking its 40th anniversary — delivering four decades of unforgettable experiences and significant contributions to Western Australia’s economy and tourism landscape.
From its opening on 30 December 1985 as Burswood Island Resort — then Australia’s largest casino and the third largest in the world — Crown Perth has been at the heart of WA’s social, entertainment, and hospitality scene.
When the property opened its doors in 1985, about 1000 team members worked at the property, growing to more than 5000 people today.

With three hotels, more than 30 restaurants and bars, a Theatre, Casino and exhibition centre, Crown attracts millions of visitors annually, reinforcing WA’s reputation as a premier tourism destination.
Our success is built on strong local partnerships — every show, meal, and hotel stay relies on hundreds of Western Australian businesses working together.
- Crown Perth contributes approximately $1.2 billion annually to WA’s economy, supporting thousands of jobs and partnering with hundreds of local suppliers.
- $169 million is spent annually with 662 local suppliers in Western Australia.
- Guests to Crown inject an additional $200 million into local businesses each year. More people visit Crown Perth each year than visit Rottnest Island and Kings Park combined.
