A Cultural Norm
Location, location, location!
If you’re not from WA then you’re from “over east”, everywhere north of Perth is referred to as “up north”, whilst the Margaret River region is referred to as “down south” or “douth”. On route down south, nothing slows drivers down more than a poor attempt at pronouncing the sign "Mandjoogoordap". Not to mention that everything is "30 minutes away", even if it's not, whilst everything over 30 minutes is "Whoop Whoop".
Acronyms in Our Everyday Jargon
The acronyms FIFO (fly-in fly-out) and CUB (cashed up bogan) are part of your vocabulary, and going to the servo with Davo for some choccy milk and a snag or sanga is what makes a good day great.
Exclusive Headlining News
You grew up in WA knowing who the most popular news achors are - you're thinking of their names right now.
What's even better? Making headlines for having a runaway motorised picnic table to enjoy all the choccy milk, snags and sangas on.
On that note, Emu Export: is there anything more West Aussie than cracking a tinny on the beach and building things out of Export cans?
Perthians love Melbourne
Hating Victorians but loving Melbourne. There's a big difference between Victoria and Melbourne; we love Melbourne and the shopping, coffee, casino, cafes and the sparkling water...
Last but not least - Bali for any occasion. Seriously, any reason and occasion at all.
