Show Details

Partnering with Business Station, a leading WA small business support organisation, Crown aims to build the capacity of Indigenous businesses to successfully tender for work, reliably fulfil Crown tender requirements and ultimately build sustainable and profitable enterprises.

Business Station has a successful history of enabling and supporting the establishment, growth and ultimate success of new and small businesses. They aim to do this through four key areas; business advisory support, incubator management, training and workshops, as well as network and events, making the organisation the perfect partner for this program of work.

Chief Operating Officer for Crown Perth, Lonnie Bossi is proud of what Crown has achieved since the commencement of the Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) in 2015.

“Crown is committed to its indigenous employment program, Building Stronger Communities, and will now create opportunities for indigenous businesses to navigate the application process to become a preferred supplier of Crown resulting in further employment opportunities for indigenous communities. We look forward to working with Business Station to fulfil the obligation we have made in our RAP.”

Crown Resorts is thrilled that Minister for Aboriginal Affairs, Peter Collier, will be speaking at the launch, to celebrate the start of this significant program.

Crown Resorts Indigenous Supplier Development Program has been initiated to help increase the representation of Indigenous businesses within Crown's supply chain and to facilitate the achievement of its stated Reconciliation Action Plan objectives by 2017. The main aim of the program is to build the capacity of Indigenous businesses to successfully tender for work, reliably fulfil Crown tender requirements and to ultimately build sustainable and profitable enterprises.

PERTH IS ALIVE WITH THE SOUND OF MUSIC - 10 May 2016
Producers Andrew Lloyd Webber, David Ian, John Frost and the Really Useful Group today announced that the world’s favourite musical, The Sound of Music, will come to Perth later this year, completing a highly successful national tour.
Show Details

The lavish London Palladium production will play at the Crown Theatre Perth from 14 September for a strictly limited season. Following sell out seasons at Sydney’s Capitol Theatre and Brisbane’s Lyric Theatre, The Sound of Music will open at Melbourne’s Regent Theatre on 13 May and play at the Festival Theatre in Adelaide from 9 August, before it heads to Perth.

Tickets for the Perth season will go on sale to the general public on Monday 16 May. People can waitlist for priority bookings at soundofmusictour.com.au

This new Australian tour of The Sound of Music is led by Amy Lehpamer (Once, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels) as Maria Rainer and Cameron Daddo (Legally Blonde, Big River) as Captain Georg von Trapp, starring alongside Marina Prior (Mary Poppins, The Secret Garden) as Baroness Schraeder, Lorraine Bayly (Calendar Girls, The Sullivans) as Frau Schmidt and David James (Playschool, Avenue Q) as Max Detweiler.

The Sound of Music has been playing to rapturous full houses and receiving an overwhelming critical response since it opened. The Daily Telegraph said, “The music is glorious. There’s a good reason it’s an iconic show”, while Theatre People said the show is “a beautifully crafted production for all ages”.

On behalf of his co-producers, John Frost said, “Australia has taken The Sound of Music to its heart, with thunderous applause and standing ovations at every performance in Sydney and Brisbane. Rarely do we see such an acclaimed production of a much-loved classic. I’m so thrilled to bring The Sound of Music to Perth to round off our national tour. Make sure you buy a ticket soon as it’s sure to become one of your favourite things.”

Inspired by the lives of the actual von Trapp family, The Sound of Music tells the uplifting story of Maria, a fun-loving governess who changes the lives of the widowed Captain von Trapp and his seven children by re-introducing them to music, culminating in the family’s escape from the Nazis across the mountains from Austria. It features an unforgettable score that includes some of the most famous songs ever performed on stage, including My Favorite Things, Edelweiss, Do-Re-Mi, Sixteen Going On Seventeen, The Lonely Goatherd, Climb Ev’ry Mountain and the title song, The Sound of Music.

This acclaimed production of the legendary Rodgers and Hammerstein musical premiered in 2006 at the home of West End musical theatre, the London Palladium, where it celebrated a record-breaking 954 performances seen by well over 2 million people, before going on to enjoy sell-out seasons internationally.
