Tuesday, 29 October 2013 - Crown Perth received four Gold Plate Awards at the Catering Institute of Australia’s Gala Awards Dinner held in Perth last night. A testament to Crown Perth’s continuing excellence across the spectrum of its extensive dining offering was acknowledged with these wins in the following categories:

IN THE PINK at Crown Perth's Charity Pink Poker Tournament - 09 October 2013
 More than 50 Poker playing Perthonalities battled it out in the third Charity Pink Poker Tournament

More than 50 Poker playing Perthonalities battled it out in the third Charity Pink Poker Tournament held at Crown Perth earlier this week, successfully raising $18,587 on the night for the National Breast Cancer Foundation as part of Breast Cancer Month which has been matched by Crown Perth bringing the grand total raised to $37,174!!! This amount will be presented to the Foundation at their annual Global Illumination Touch of Pink breakfast in the Grand Ballroom at Crown Perth on Thursday, 17 October.

There was some great competition on the night with Lisa Fernandez, Angela Tsun, Mark Gibson, Steve Mills, Nathan Linney, Rick and Emily Parish and many others taking part in a pre-tournament poker lesson and mingling with local Poker players before settling in to try their luck at winning one of the prized trophies.

Local favourite John Aufdemkampe was the eventual victor of this annual event, winning his place in the ANZPT Perth Poker Champ Main Event in February 2014.

The charity tournament has become an important part of Crown Perth’s annual support campaign for Breast Cancer Month during October, and has raised over $80,000 for the cause since its inception, thanks to the support of local media personalities and players.

The Poker Room was fully decked out in pink for the event, complete with Pink Poker tables and Croupiers who proudly wore Pink Poker event t-shirts whilst players enjoyed a range of pink canapé delights specially prepared for the event.

Crown is glowing pink throughout October and you can pick up your Pink Ribbon merchandise from key locations throughout the resort. Preceding Margaret River Gourmet Escape and the much anticipated arrival of Heston Blumenthal and other International celebrity chefs, Crown Perth is proud to announce esteemed Michelin Star Chef Tam will kick off this gourmet month as he visits the resort from Friday, 1 November.

As City of Dreams’ Executive Chinese Chef, Master Chef Tam Kwok Fung leads the team at the celebrated Chinese restaurant, Jade Dragon at City of Dreams, Macau and was invited into the Silks kitchen earlier this year to join culinary forces with Head Chef Pat Cheong for the launch of Crown Perth’s premier Chinese restaurant Silks.

The duo collaborated on the Silks menu, signifying Crown Perth’s single-minded objective to provide the best Chinese cuisine in Perth.

With more than 30 years experience in Cantonese fine dining, Chef Tam has influenced Chef Cheong and the interpretation of the Silks menu, with Chef Cheong having recently completed a mentorship in Macau under Chef Tam. Chef Tam also sent four of his Jade Dragon kitchen team to Crown Perth for a pre-opening ‘Tour of Duty’ and they have since become a permanent part of the Silks team, producing exquisite Cantonese dishes and regional specialties.

Chef Tam will be at Crown Perth for four days only cooking for a contingent of International VIP guests and also revisiting the Silks menu with Chef Cheong – he will also have the opportunity to try West Australian fresh produce at its very best.

Chef Tam Kwok Fung – Biography
Chef Tam Kwok Fung is the Executive Chinese Chef of City of Dreams, Macau - an integrated entertainment resort developed by Melco Crown Entertainment Limited.

Chef Tam is the master Chef of signature Chinese restaurant, Jade Dragon. Previously Chef Tam launched internationally acclaimed Chinese restaurant Ying at Altira Macau, attaining a one Michelin Star rating in the Michelin Guide Hong Kong and Macau in 2009. Chef Tam brought to Ying an unequaled skill in Chinese cooking, honed over 30 years of experience in Cantonese fine dining. During his outstanding career, which spans China, Hong Kong and Thailand, Chef Tam routinely prepared a variety of traditional and contemporary Cantonese dishes for world leaders, the royal families of Thailand, Japan and Nepal and a host of politicians and presidents.
