RESPONSE TO COVID-19 – UPDATE - 19 March 2020
MELBOURNE: Crown Resorts Limited (ASX: CWN) (Crown) refers to its announcements of 16 and 17 March 2020 regarding social distancing policies which have been implemented at Crown Melbourne and Crown Perth.

Following consultation with the Victorian and Western Australian Governments, Crown’s social distancing policies at Crown Melbourne and Crown Perth have been amended to revise the restriction on the number of patrons in individual food & beverage, banqueting and conference facilities from 450 persons to 100 persons.

All other previously announced measures will remain in place.

Australia’s largest single site employer announces 14 days of paid special leave for employees facing COVID-19 challenges

Australia, Tuesday 17 March 2020 – Crown today announced it will provide an additional 14 days of paid leave for any of its employees – whether full-time, part-time or casual – who are affected by coronavirus (COVID-19).

The additional leave is available to all employees who either contract coronavirus (COVID-19), or who have come into close contact with a confirmed case. In addition, the leave will also be available to employees who are providing care to a member of their family as a consequence of coronavirus – supplementing existing carer’s leave policy.

Crown Resorts CEO Ken Barton says Crown will support its workforce as well as promote good public health outcomes.

“We are Australia’s largest single site private sector employer and with that comes a responsibility to our workforce and the general community. We hope that this leave entitlement helps alleviate some of the anxiety we know our employees, as well as many Australians, are naturally feeling right now. This policy will help ease a lot of that uncertainty at a time when our employees need to be wholly focused on their health, the health of their families, and the health of the broader community,” says Barton.

Crown’s paid special leave policy applies to all employees, regardless of whether they are full-time, part-time or casual, facing any of the below situations:

  • The employee contracts coronavirus (COVID-19); or
  • The employee is required to self–isolate for 14 days following returning from overseas after midnight 15 March 2020; or
  • The employee has been directed by Crown to self-isolate; or
  • The employee has been in close contact with a confirmed case of coronavirus (COVID-19); or
  • The employee is required to provide care to a member of their family as a consequence of coronavirus (COVID-19).
In addition to its 14 days of paid leave, Crown is offering its employees 24/7 confidential counselling for them and their family free of charge.

Crown Resorts and the Packer Family Foundations have today increased their financial support of bushfire fighting services and community support efforts to $5 million.

An additional $4 million will be spent to support volunteer fire services in New South Wales, Victoria and Western Australia (states that Crown has resorts in) and to charitable organisations providing relief to affected people and wildlife nationally.
This is in addition to the $1 million pledged by the Packer Family Foundation to the Rural Fire Service of New South Wales following the outbreak of the fires in November.
The distribution of the $5 million is as follows;
NSW Rural Fire Service (November 14, 2019) $1,000,000
Victorian Country Fire Authority (CFA) $1,000,000
Western Australia Bush Fire Brigade (BFB) $500,000 
Australian Red Cross $500,000
Victorian Government fund in conjunction with Bendigo Bank and the Salvation Army $1,000,000
Wildlife Information, Rescue and Education Service (WIRES), Zoos Victoria * $1,000,000

*Other Victorian and national accredited wildlife organisations to be included.
Packer Family Foundation Founder James Packer said; 

"Australians are digging deep to support each other in these tough times, it's truly inspiring.  My family and Crown are eager to do more and the best way we can help, is to significantly increase our donation.
We hope these funds play a small part in helping our firefighters, and easing the suffering of people who have lost their homes and the poor wildlife caught up in the blaze. We just want to do our bit."

We encourage all Australians to give generously to assist those that have lost their homes and livelihoods, and to support our wildlife and firefighters risking their lives in the field."

"Just like every Australian, we are so grateful to the extraordinary men and women who are fighting these fires. Their courage and heroism are breath-taking and inspiring; and the damage done to people, communities, animals and our wonderful country in the wake of these infernos is utterly heartbreaking.
Our donation will be directed to firefighters, and those caring for affected communities and wildlife. This crisis is far greater than any one contribution but, like so many others, we wanted to do what we could to support everyone facing these fires."

Both Foundations have confirmed that these donations will be paid in full to the nominated organisations this week.
