About The Program
As the largest single-site, private sector employer in Western Australia and Victoria, we recognise that we have a responsibility to lead the way in creating opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians to build careers in the tourism and entertainment industry.
Crown was the first employer to sign the Australian Employment Covenant in 2009, and provided the first job opportunities under that program. Our commitment in 2009 was to hire 300 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, which we achieved in 2013: our current target is 2,000 job opportunities by 2021. We have employed over 800 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people since 2009. We continue our journey towards reconciliation, Crown former Chairman, James Packer, launched the Crown Resorts Reconciliation Action Plan in March 2013, making it clear to the Australian nation that we are committed to Closing the Gap. We have come a long way since then and in July 2015, Crown former Chairman, James Packer, in partnership with The Hon. Daniel Andrews MP, Premier of Victoria launched the second Crown Resorts Reconciliation Action Plan which we achieve the highest rating by Reconciliation Australia, an ELEVATE level.
